Our client is a global leader in automotive safety, dedicated to reducing road risks through data-driven intelligence. By ingesting billions of data points from IoT devices, connected vehicles, and smartphones, they provide real-time insights into traffic conditions and vehicle health. To expand their influence into the insurance technology (InsurTech) sector, the company sought to develop a mobile platform that could evaluate driver behavior by merging raw telematics with environmental data.

The Challenges

The project required translating complex sensor data into objective risk assessments for both consumers and enterprise insurers. Key challenges included:

• B2B White-Label Scalability: Architecting a configurable application that could be rapidly rebranded and integrated into the unique workflows of various global insurance providers.

• High-Frequency Sensor Orchestration: Developing reliable logic to process data from diverse smartphone sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS) to detect subtle behaviors like phone distraction and hard braking.

Klika was selected as the strategic technical partner to engineer a high-precision telematics ecosystem. Our solution included:

• Scalable White-Label Framework: Developed a robust white-label architecture using native iOS (Objective-C) and Android (Java) to ensure performance and seamless rebranding for enterprise clients.

• High-Frequency Telemetry Engine: Leveraged the Native Development Kit (NDK) to build a specialized engine that gathers and processes high-frequency sensor data on four key parameters: phone distraction, speeding, hard braking, and cornering.

• Unbiased Scoring Algorithms: Engineered the backend logic required to synthesize telematics and contextual data into a transparent, objective driving score for insurance premium determination.

• Dynamic Configuration Layer: Built a flexible system that allows insurers to tweak parameter weightings and personalize the UI/UX to match their corporate identity.

• Secure Data Ingestion: Established reliable pipelines to ingest and store large-scale data volumes from IoT devices and connected vehicles for long-term risk analysis.
